On the evening of December 8, 1980, John Lennon was shot seven times in the back while returning from a recording studio with Yoko Ono. Earlier that day, Lennon was signing autographs for fans, and among them was his killer, Mark Chapman.
In the Dakota building known to every New Yorker today, at the entrance to which the musician was killed, Lennon owned as many as five apartments, and now Yoko Ono and the son of the musician Sean Lennon live in them.
