Description:
This huge boulder is stuck between two vertical rocks at the height of almost a kilometer above the Lysefjord. You have to overcome quite a strenuous 12-km-long route to get to it. Tourists have to go down and up several times on its entire length. Much of the trail runs on bare rock, which is very slippery and dangerous because of the moisture. That is why it is better not to go when the weather is foggy, or it is raining. Those who successfully conquered this route are rewarded with breathtaking views from the Kjerag plateau and the chance to take the iconic photo while standing on the Kjeragbolten. But you have to climb it by walking along a narrow rock ledge with your chest pressed against the rock. There is a ring that you can hold on to for safety. Even in dry weather, there is a risk of falling off or, having stumbled, moving down the rock’s rounded surface.
