An active volcano on the eastern coast of Kamchatka. Refers to stratovolcanoes. The height is 3482 m, the top is a regular ribbed cone. The volcano is considered active, located in the southern part of the Gamchensky series of volcanoes. At the foot of the western slope is Kronotskoye Lake. Kronotskaya Sopka has a regular conical shape, dissected by barrancos starting from a height of 2500 m. The diameter of the base of the volcano is 16 km, the volume of the building is 120 km³. The summit crater is filled with a neck and glacier. The crater has a star shape. The slopes of the volcano’s cone gently descend in the east to the Pacific coast, and in the west to Lake Kronotskoye. Side craters are confined to the southern slope. They are represented by a chain of seven slag cones and three explosion craters, elongated in the latitudinal direction. There are fumarole manifestations on the southern slopes. The volcano is composed of olivine plagiobasalts, basaltic and andesitic slags, lavas, and ash. Eruptions are rare. The current activity of the volcano is manifested by rare emissions of vapors and gases at its summit. The lower slopes of the volcano are covered with forests of dwarf cedar and stone birch, and in the upper part there are glaciers and snowfields. Probably one of the most picturesque volcanoes in Kamchatka. Near the volcano – Valley of Geysers. Height: 3528 meters, Type: Stratovolcano, Status: Historical
