The dif­fer­ent shades of blue in the ice crys­tals inside these caves is a nat­ur­al phe­nom­e­non that has left sci­en­tists baf­fled for years. As glob­al warm­ing is on the rise, there is a chance that these ice caves might be affect­ed. Geol­o­gists are doing every­thing pos­si­ble in their capac­i­ty to save these ice caves from becom­ing extinct. The glac­i­er was named Auke (Auk) Glac­i­er by nat­u­ral­ist John Muir for the Tlin­git Auk Kwaan band.
