The highest mountain in Tuva, its peak is at 3,976 meters. The rock is part of a mountain range located on the territory of the Ubsunurskaya Basin Nature Reserve. The protected status allows the steppe and tundra zones, alpine meadows to remain intact. Snow leopards, argali, sarlyks and other rare animals live in the vicinity of Mongun-Taiga, grayling is found in the reservoirs.

Local residents consider Mongun-Taiga a sacred peak that does not need to be climbed. However, this does not stop climbers: there are several routes along which ascents are made every year.

For tourists who are not interested in mountaineering, hiking in the foothills is available. One of the most interesting places in the area is Lake Khindiktig-Khol, which is distinguished by its clean, transparent water.
