The tow­er was built for the O’Brien clan and lat­er passed to the pow­er­ful O’Loghlen fam­i­ly. It served as a for­ti­fied res­i­dence typ­i­cal of Irish nobil­i­ty in the late medieval peri­od. Inside are four floors, vault­ed ceil­ings, gun loops, and a spi­ral stair­case. In the 1990s, the struc­ture was restored and became part of the Bur­ren Col­lege of Art, host­ing exhi­bi­tions, cer­e­monies, and cre­ative events.
