Description:
Big Five game viewing in an extinct volcano just down the road from the vast Serengeti – how special is that? Ngorogoro offers easy game viewing in a spectacular setting and chic cliff-top lodging for that extra special safari.
Ngorogoro is the world’s largest intact inactive volcanic caldera, with a floor space of 260 km2 of mostly grasslands and 2 small woodland areas. Approximately 25,000 animals call the crater home, making for excellent game viewing – especially near the few springs that provide water.
This is the best place in Tanzania to see black rhinos, and some of the bull elephants in the crater have very large tusks. Also, expect to see buffalos, lions, hyenas, zebras, hippos, and a variety of antelope species.
