Con­sists of nine arch­es, built entire­ly of sol­id rock — a mix­ture of stone and brick with­out the use of steel. The height of the bridge is almost 25 meters, and the total length is more than 90 meters. It was cre­at­ed as part of the expan­sion of the rail­way net­work on the island to improve trans­port acces­si­bil­i­ty between small towns and tea plan­ta­tions. A mas­ter­piece of the British colo­nial era in Sri Lan­ka. It is locat­ed in the city of Ella, in the Badul­la dis­trict, between the Ella and Demodara rail­way sta­tions.
