Description:
One of the most important archaeological sites in the country (an example of a Roman fortification from the 4th century, well preserved). Near the fortress there is a spring with sulfur water in Nokalakevi (signpost “Betlemi”, 3.5 km from the fortress). It is not like other thermal pools: water bursts out from a high bank and flows down to the Tekhuri River. You will recognize the place by the huge white limestone. Under it, vacationers bask in the steam of hot water, and then go to lie in shallow homemade stone baths (similar to puddles). The closer the bath is to the source, the hotter the water. The most comfortable water temperature is near the river.
