Description:

En Ру

After completion of construction in 1903, the embankment was named after Emperor Peter the Great, and in the 1930s it was renamed Petrovskaya. The Petrograd side is the oldest part of St. Petersburg. In 1703, under the cover of the construction of the Peter and Paul Fortress, a port was built on the site of modern Trinity Square (on one side it faces the embankment). Nearby, the wooden House of Peter I is being built, which is still preserved (house No. 6 on Petrovskaya Embankment).
