Description:
The cave was discovered in 1925 by local historian Petre Chabukiani. By the way, he also discovered the footprints of dinosaurs. The scientist found this amazing cave, consisting of many halls, by chance, following the path of a stream that was lost in a crevasse. The length of the cave is 900 meters, and every centimeter of it is a natural exhibit. Calcite outgrowths sometimes resemble an animal, sometimes fairy-tale characters, but there is also the pride of the cave – the “Stone Heart” – a huge stalagmite, shaped like a human heart. Stalactites and stalagmites grow by 1 cm in 1000 years, so only our distant descendants will see the historical moment of the Stone Heart reunion. Next to the “Stone Heart” is a hall that was equipped to receive patients suffering from bronchial asthma, forming a pleasant climate. There used to be benches here. The fact is that the constant temperature of +14 degrees and the cave air have healing properties. Vivid proof of this is Petre Chabukiani himself, who lived for 94 years.
