Description:

In many tourist brochures it is called differently: “Kossovo Castle” or “Knight’s Dream”. The luxurious building is reminiscent of the Middle Ages, although it was built only 200 years ago. The tourist site in the Ivatsevichi district is very popular among travelers. It is noteworthy that, indeed, a defensive complex could have been built here in the Middle Ages, but, as they say, it was not destiny. The town of Kossovo belonged to representatives of the nobility and Polish industrialists for about 500 years. The latter, even if they had noble titles, did not enjoy special respect among the aristocrats. So the erection of a luxurious building on a hill can be safely compared with another attempt by the nouveau riche to prove to the world the equality between big money, good taste and noble origin.

The building changed owners several times. Among them, again ironically, were the same (proud of the purity of their noble blood) princes Trubetskoy. Among the regular guests of the palace were many famous writers, poets, musicians, rebels, and revolutionaries. Cultural life was in full swing here, and at night in the corridors the peace of the palace inhabitants was guarded by a live lion. The First World War, the revolution, the transfer of real estate to the ownership of the USSR seemed to put an end to the history of the magnificent complex, because it was simply looted. And suddenly fate in the 21st century took a dizzying turn, giving the palace a second life. Thanks to the insanely expensive restoration, park alleys, room interiors, and engineering infrastructure facilities have already been restored. The building houses a restaurant, a museum exhibition, and a mini-hotel. There are not many ghosts in its halls and galleries, by local standards, but the spirits really love to play music. Otherwise, how can we explain the fact that in the eastern part of the building music and applause can be heard out of nowhere in the evenings?
