Description:
The beautiful church, built in the pre-Romanesque style, is one of the oldest architectural structures in this small country. Externally, this amazing temple has a rather ascetic appearance, that is, it is distinguished by minimal decorative elements. Gray stone and a minimum of decorations were used in the construction of the Santa Coloma Church. Like most architectural structures of that time, the temple looks more like a small well-fortified castle than a church. An interesting four-story bell tower adjoins the side of the monastery. Its main feature is a round, not a quadrangular base, so the bell tower strongly resembles a watchtower of a medieval fortress. The bell tower has four vertical rows of narrow arched windows-openings. The widest ones are located on the upper floors of the building, and the narrowest ones are at the bottom. The bell tower is decorated with a conical roof.
