The Royal Fort of São Filipe is a 16th-century fortress in the city of Cidade Velha, in the south of the island of Santiago. It is located on a hill above the city center, at an altitude of 120 meters above sea level. The historic center of Cidade Velha has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since June 2009.
