The northernmost active volcano in Kamchatka. The diameter of the base of the volcano is 45-50 km, the total area is at least 1300 kmĀ². It consists of the stratovolcano Old Shiveluch (contains andesites and basalts), an old depression – a caldera with a diameter of 9 km and the active crater Young Shiveluch, which produces emissions of hot lava and gas-ash clouds.
