Description:
Located within the monumental Vittoriano complex in central Rome, the memorial houses the battle flags of disbanded army, navy, air force, and carabinieri units. It also contains the Sacello del Milite Ignoto, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, commemorating those who fell in World War I. The memorial is rich in symbolism, honoring the sacrifice and valor of Italy’s military.
Facts:
Over 600 flags are preserved here. Memorial masses are held every second Sunday of the month. The site was closed to the public from August 4 to September 1, 2025.
