Locat­ed with­in the mon­u­men­tal Vit­to­ri­ano com­plex in cen­tral Rome, the memo­r­i­al hous­es the bat­tle flags of dis­band­ed army, navy, air force, and cara­binieri units. It also con­tains the Sacel­lo del Milite Igno­to, the tomb of the Unknown Sol­dier, com­mem­o­rat­ing those who fell in World War I. The memo­r­i­al is rich in sym­bol­ism, hon­or­ing the sac­ri­fice and val­or of Italy’s mil­i­tary.
