Description:
Corbii de Piatră Monastery is a holy place on the territory of Romania, located in the village of Jgheaburi, Corbi commune (Argeș county). The monastery is a cave complex dating from the 14th century, which was re-established in 1512 during the reign of Neagoe Basarab. The church, the monastery refectory and the dining hall are dug into the rock 30 meters high and 14.5 long. Also inside the rock there was a special space dedicated to Neagoe Basarab. The space served as an open-air court for public trials. Currently, the Stone Crow Monastery is in an advanced stage of decay, although it has immense value through the ancient paintings. The Corbi commune is not only known for the Corbii de Piatră Monastery, it is also the birthplace of the Corvins (Huniade Family), a Hungarian noble family.
Located in the village of Jgheaburi, the beautiful place of worship hides in the shadow of a colossal rock. Even though it is built in stone, the church brings warmth to the hearts of tourists and parishioners who visit it year after year. From the center of the commune to the monastery, walk for 20 minutes, during which you can get used to the landscape with lots of greenery and the homely people of the place. The Corbii de Piatră monastery has remained, for the locals, the place that brings eternal soul warmth. A place of refuge away from everyone’s problems, a holy and special space.
