Description:
Height: 3340 meters, Type: Stratovolcano, Status: Historical. The largest eruption occurred in 1856. The volcano is currently active. On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 6:46 a.m. local time, a phreatic explosion occurred. On December 4, 1970, in a tropical downpour, a Nicaraguan military aircraft C-47 transport plane crashed into the slope of the Turriralba volcano in Costa Rica (all six people on board – three crew members and three passengers – were killed).
