Description:
A large lagoon located in the Rhone River delta region, southern France, western part of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. Its area is 65 square kilometers, and the depth does not reach even two meters. It is believed that even during the times of Roman rule in Gaul, this lake was already a popular place for fishing. Since 1972, it has been part of the Camargue National Park, created to protect the salt marshes of this area and the adjacent marine zone.
