It is the only monument to a political party in the world.
Description:
Erected in honor of the founding of the ruling party of the DPRK. The monument covers an area of 250 thousand square meters. The monument is an integral part of the architectural and park ensemble. The monument is a structure consisting of three 50-meter towers in the shape of hands holding a hammer, sickle and brush. These three elements of the composition symbolize the three social layers, the support of which is declared by the Workers’ Party of Korea: the working class, the peasantry and the intelligentsia. The monument is based on a round foundation with a diameter of 70 m. The towers are connected to each other by a structure in the form of a ring with a diameter of 50 and a thickness of about 8 m, which symbolizes “the unity of the leader, the party and the people.” This design bears the inscription “Long live the Workers’ Party of Korea, the organizer and leader of all victories of the Korean people.” On the inside of the ring are three bronze bas-reliefs depicting the history of the Labor Party.
