Erect­ed in hon­or of the found­ing of the rul­ing par­ty of the DPRK. The mon­u­ment cov­ers an area of 250 thou­sand square meters. The mon­u­ment is an inte­gral part of the archi­tec­tur­al and park ensem­ble. The mon­u­ment is a struc­ture con­sist­ing of three 50-meter tow­ers in the shape of hands hold­ing a ham­mer, sick­le and brush. These three ele­ments of the com­po­si­tion sym­bol­ize the three social lay­ers, the sup­port of which is declared by the Work­ers’ Par­ty of Korea: the work­ing class, the peas­antry and the intel­li­gentsia. The mon­u­ment is based on a round foun­da­tion with a diam­e­ter of 70 m. The tow­ers are con­nect­ed to each oth­er by a struc­ture in the form of a ring with a diam­e­ter of 50 and a thick­ness of about 8 m, which sym­bol­izes “the uni­ty of the leader, the par­ty and the peo­ple.” This design bears the inscrip­tion “Long live the Work­ers’ Par­ty of Korea, the orga­niz­er and leader of all vic­to­ries of the Kore­an peo­ple.” On the inside of the ring are three bronze bas-reliefs depict­ing the his­to­ry of the Labor Par­ty.
