Over 24 million years, deposits of sandstone and other minerals, the movement of tectonic plates, rain and gusts of wind formed this “unearthly” topography. The rocky formations resemble in their shape towers, grottoes, hills, full of bright colors of the rainbow.

In order to preserve the beautiful colored mountains from pollution and damage, people are prohibited from exploring the Danxia Hills on their own.
