Description:
This is a trough-like deposit with an area of 16 km² with a maximum depth of 320 meters in the central part of the trough. The average thickness of the formation is 26.5 meters, the maximum is up to 120 meters. The Neryungrinsky open-pit mine is one of three coal mining enterprises that are part of OJSC Yakutugol, which produces coal in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The maximum volume of coal production was achieved in 1989 — 14 million 881 thousand tons of coal. Coal consumers are Russian metallurgists and power engineers, Japan, South Korea, India, and Taiwan.
