Built in hon­or of Tra­jan’s vic­to­ries over the Dacians. The emper­or’s tri­umph is cap­tured in the form of sculp­tur­al dec­o­ra­tion of the square, depict­ing Dacians and war tro­phies, as well as in the form of reliefs of Tra­jan’s Col­umn, telling the sto­ry of the con­quest of Dacia.
