This gallery just out­side Yogyakar­ta offers some­thing a lit­tle dif­fer­ent to batik col­lec­tors: a chance to vis­it the stu­dios of renowned batik artists and vil­lagers and meet them as they work. Social entre­pre­neur Tatang Wibowo start­ed this project in 2011 as a way to con­tin­ue sup­port­ing local artists in an inno­v­a­tive tourism mod­el. It’s a rare oppor­tu­ni­ty to make a con­nec­tion with the peo­ple who make batik.
