The palace was erect­ed dur­ing the reign of Abbas II (1632–1667) as a res­i­dence for recre­ation. The splen­dor of the dec­o­ra­tion of the recep­tion hall was not­ed by the con­tem­po­rary of Shah Abbas, the French trav­el­er Jean-Bap­tiste Tav­ernier. After all, in addi­tion to stuc­co and lux­u­ri­ous orna­ments, the hall is dec­o­rat­ed with real gold. Despite the fire of 1707, this dec­o­ra­tion has sur­vived to this day.
