A Goth­ic Luther­an church built in 1345 by the Teu­ton­ic Knights from red brick. Its tow­er, stand­ing approx­i­mate­ly 42 meters high, was for a long time the tallest build­ing in the city. Over the cen­turies, the church sur­vived fires (in 1696 and 1913) and dam­age dur­ing the First World War, but was large­ly unscathed dur­ing the Sec­ond. After the war, the build­ing was used as a ware­house and a com­mu­ni­ty cen­ter, and then began to dete­ri­o­rate. In the 1990s, it was pre­served and par­tial­ly restored: the foun­da­tion, tow­er, and sac­risty were rein­forced, a spi­ral stair­case and an obser­va­tion deck were added. Today, the church is open to tourists: you can climb the tow­er, explore the pre­served inte­ri­ors, and vis­it a small glass muse­um.
