The bronze figure of Peter I faces the Volga. On the granite pedestal under the relief image of the state emblem of Russia is the inscription “Peter the Great”. The monument was created by the sculptor A. D. Kovalchuk and the architect A. I. Fedorchenko. The artistic solution of the image of Peter I is traditional and goes back to the classic work of M. M. Antokolsky. Peter is depicted walking energetically, with a cane in his slightly set right hand, with a sword, in a Preobrazhensky uniform with a ribbon and insignia of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called.
