A historic early-20th-century brick water tower in Yantarny (former Palmnicken), emblematic of the local amber industry, featuring an observation deck.
Description:
Built in 1912 to serve Palmnicken’s amber-mining plant, it showcases Brick Expressionism with red brickwork, carved stone accents, and arched windows. Inside lies an 800 m³ reinforced-concrete reservoir and a central spiral staircase leading to a 27 m-high viewing gallery. After decades of disuse, it was restored in 2015–2016 and converted into a mini-museum of the amber trade, displaying tools and amber specimens.
Facts:
– Tower height – 35 m.
– Reservoir capacity – 800 m³.
– Designed by engineer E. Schmidt.
– Original cast-iron beams and reinforcement remain inside.

– Listed as a Kaliningrad-region architectural monument in 2017.
Significance:
Regional; protected as an industrial-architecture monument of Kaliningrad Oblast.
